More info Floyd-Taylor Cemetery -- see the Dallas County Cemeteries List --- DallasHistoricalSociety.org -- other links - Jim Wheat's Dallas County records. Betty was the wife of J.E. Crabtree - he was a field hand that she married. Betty was the daughter of James Harvey Taylor (buried here) daughter of Sarah Alsena Taylor. Betty was a nickname - this was short for Elizabeth.
The home that Mrs. Crabtree was born in and grew up in was built by her Grandfather Thomas Highsmith Harris who came to Texas in 1852 by wagon and homesteaded 640 acres in that section. Mr. Harris gave each of his children a home on his land. Each child eventually sold their part to Mrs. Crabtree's Father James Harvey Taylor. He was remembered by the community as "Uncle Harvey".
Thank you to Mary Jane McNamara, Tyler, TX. for the obituary and pictures. My Mother Pat Floyd Dodd's 6th cousin.
