Betsy (Boel Larsdotter) was the third of five children (Per Larssson, Ingar Larsdotter, Boel Larsdotter, Marna Larsdotter and Hannah Larsdotter) born to Lars Knutson and Boel Larsdotter. About 1874 she married Jons Bengtsson (Swedish)b. July 11, 1846 in Igelosa, Malmohus lan, Sweden. April 16, 1876 they had a son named Nils Bengtsson.
April 26, 1881 Jons (Jens), Boel (Betsey) and son, Nils Benson emigrated to the United States along with her father, Lars Knutson,. Father, Lars Knutson, purchased a homestead in Nidaros Township, Otter Tail County next to Lake Clitherall, Minnesota.
In 1883 Betsey and Jens had their last child, son Oscar Benson, born in Otter tail County.
The 1884 Plat map of Nidaros Township #7 shows the homestead still owned by Lars Knutson. (see photo) The 1902 Plat map indicates the land owned by Lars Knutson is now owned by Jens Benson and it was still owned by Jens Benson in 1912.
