Miner C. Clark
East Arlington - The funeral of Miner C. Clark of East Arlington, World War I veteran and operator of the IGA store here for more than 30 years, was held in Federated Church Sunday afternoon.
The Rev. John Geer, pastor, officiated and the church was filled with many friends and relatives. Mrs. John Moore presided at the organ and soloist was Phillip Elwell, who sant "How Great Thou Art".
Honorary bearers were Prosper Deschenes, Leon Cole, Norman Mattison, James Edgerton, John Whalen and John Smith. Active bearers were Norris Nims, Earl Prouty, Duane Hawley, John Moore, Alvin Metcalfe and Jerry Sargood, all members of the Arlington Fire Department.
Among those in attendance were delegations from the fire department, American Legion and Barracks 3116, World War I Veterans of Arlington and Manchester. They all formed an honor guard at the exit of the church.
Military honors were accorded Mr. Clark. Color bearers were Walter Rice and Robert Stroffoleno. The firing squad was made up of Paul Pike, Harold Grover, Medric Grover and Cyril Hoyt. The flag was folded by Earl Prouty and Joseph Labravico and presented to Mrs. Clark by the latter.
Entombment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Arlington, with committal prayers offered by the Rev. Mr. Geer. Burial will be in this cemetery in the spring.
