Joseph died in a motorcycle accident.

He was employed as a carpenter at William E. Dailey Inc., in South Shaftsbury.
Born at Pownal, Jan 4, 1927, he was the son of Philip and Florence Rood Barbeau.
He was educated at Pownal, and the family later moved to Hinsdale, N.H.
He married the former Helen Martel, and they had one son, Joseph C. Barbeau, aged five.
The family has been residing the last six years on the South Stream road in Pownal. They formerly lived in Woodford.
Barbeau was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion.
Besides his parents, wife and child, Barbeau is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Rose Hayes, West Suffield, Conn.; Mrs. Ruth Forrest and Mrs. Shirley King, both of Bennington.
Also two brothers, Philip and Stanley of Woodford.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar Funeral Home at 2 pm Monday.
The Rev. Stephen Greene, pastor of the Second Congregational Church, will officiate.
