BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for John F. "Rusty" Dunham were held from St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, where the burial office with Holy Eucharist was offered by the Rev. Anita Schell-Lambert, rector. Assisting in the service was the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. The Rev. Penny Hawkins served as deacon.

Organist was Randall B. Krum and Soloist was Mildred Pierce. Hymns offered during the service were "Amazing Grace," "Rock of Ages," "Ave Maria" and "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee."

Serving as crucifer was Emily Kennedy, chalicists were Dick Bower and Margo Fletcher, ushers were Donna Maroney and Ted Doucette. The prayers of the people were offered by Walter Dunham, a brother. Readers were Sandra Lemieux and Joyce Dunham, a sister-in-law. Words of remembrance were offered by a sister in law Dorothy Carroll.

Bearers were Kevin Dunham and Richard Carroll, nephews, also Leonard Candib, Roy Farnum, Adrian Lane and Arthur Lemieux. Honorary bearers were Paul Breese, Ted Hoyt and Brian Pettengill.

Wednesday evening members of both American Legion Post 13 and Bennington Elks 567 conducted their services at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home. Also paying respects to the family on Wednesday evening were members of the Bennington Lions Club.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Mother Schell-Lambert and Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. Military honors were accorded the U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict by Ralph Brown and Joseph Krawczyk of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington who folded the American flag and presented it to Mr. Dunham"s wife, Joanne. Taps were sounded by Maurice Rancourt.

Following the service a reception for family and friends took place at the parish hall at St. Peters Episcopal Church.

Mr. John F. "Rusty" Dunham a longtime resident of Bennington, died Monday Jan. 23, 2006. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201. .
