Richard Connell died in a car accident. Following is the obituary part of the article.

Richard (Digger) E. Connell, U.S. Navy veteran, was born in Bennington Nov 25, 1936, a son of Mrs. Beulah (Morse) LaBarge and the late John J. Connell. His education had been received at St. Francis de Sales Academy and he was a 1954 graduate of Bennington High School.
A second class petty officer in the Navy, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and had served in Iceland for a year. He was released from active duty in 1962 after serving three and one-half years.
A foreman at Union Carbide he had previously been employed at the A&P stores. In his brief lifetime he had become well-known in the community. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, historian of the Mt. Anthony Jaycees, a player in the Bennington Softball League for 13 years, and had belonged to the Carbide bowling league.
His widow is the former Miss Loretta Froment of North Bennington, whom he married in St. John the Baptist Church, North Bennington, the Rev. William Digman officiating. The family resided at 107 Fairview Terrace.
Survivors besides his wife are two children, Christopher, 88, and Cindy, 6; two brothers, John A. Connell of Vancouver, British Columbia and Robert J. Connell of Bennington; his mother, Mrs. Homer (Beulah) LaBarge of Woodford; a half-sister, Miss Linda A. LaBarge, and a half-brother, Larry A. LaBarge, both of Woodford; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Albert Morse of Bennington; also aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held at Mahar & Son Funeral Home Wednesday at 8:30 am, with a prayer and in Sacred Heart Church at 9, where a Requiem High Mass will be offered. There will be recitation of the Rosary at 8 pm Tuesday.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
