SSG John R Connor Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Winston-Salem NC.

Staff Sergeant John R Connor Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SSG Connor served our country until February 12th, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 30 years old and was married. It was reported that John died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. SSG Connor is on panel 05E, line 026 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 10 years.

He is the Son of Mr John W. Connor and Mrs Gussie C Connor 1303 Frazier Street, Winston Salem NC. He is the Husband of Betty J Conner, 140 South Vine Street, Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Father to Michael W and John R Connor, address same as above.

He served with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, "Screaming Eagles", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Medical Badge(CMB), The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal with three Devices.
