Pvt Robert L Chapman was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PVT Chapman served our country until February 2nd, 1968 in Dinh Tuong, South Vietnam. He was 24 years old and was not married. It was reported that Robert died from small arms fire or grenade. PVT Chapman is on panel 36E, line 067 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
He is the Brother of Mrs Pauline Watford, Route #1, Colerain, NC 27924.
He served with Alpha Company, 4th Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment "Manchus", 9th Infantry Division, "Old Reliables", USARV.
He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
