Quincy S. Ellis
Quincy S. Ellis, son of Hiram J. and Sarah F. Ellis, was born near Wilmington, Ohio, on June 24, 1885 and department this life at Courtland July 29, 1939, at the age of 54 years, one month and five days.
He move with his parents to Kansas at the age of three and settled near Clyde where he grew to manhood, and was united in marriage to Edith M. Bashford of Concordia. To this union nine children were born, Claude and Ralph having died in infancy.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Mrs. Quincy S. Ellis, seven children: Harold of Republic; Laverne of McPherson; Walter of Mahaska, Mrs. Lawrence [Roselyn] Resco of Clyde, Althelyn of Manhattan; Virgil of Courtland and Mrs. Bryce [Lois] Haney of Greenleaf, Idaho. Also four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Law of Clyde; two brothers, Milton of Concordia and James of Courtlan, [sic] besides many other relatives and friends.
In 1914 he was baptised and became a member of the Highland Baptist Church and in 1924 transferred his membership to the Christian church at Concordia.
Mr. Ellis had been in ill health for the past three years, but kept his faith and courage and never complained, giving his loving devotion to his wife and children.
Funeral services were held Monday July 31st, from his home in Courtland and the Christian church in Clyde. Interment was in the Clyde Cemetery.
