In March 1909, Daisy married William Alfred Cowle, a plumber, in Johannesburg. They had five children, four of whom died in childhood. The only child to survive to adulthood was Rhodes, who was born in June 1911.

In January 1923, William passed away.

In January 1926, Daisy married Robert Sproat, a plumber. In October 1927, he became ill and died on November 6, 1927.

On January 21, 1931, Daisy married widower Sydney Clarence de Melker, a famous South African rugby player.

On March 5, 1932, her son Rhodes passed away.

In April 1932, police obtained a court order to exhume the bodies of her first and second husbands, and her son Rhodes. Traces of strychnine was found in each of their remains.

On October 18, 1932, Daisy went on trial for the murders of her first and second husbands, and her son.

After her trial, the judge determined that it was not proven conclusively that she caused the deaths of her husbands and was found not guilty, but she was found guilty of the murder of her son.

On November 25, 1932, Daisy was sentenced to die by hanging, which was carried out on December 30, 1932 at Pretoria Central Prison.
