Martha Ann Lamb of Stillwater died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1992, in Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 69.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the Strode Chapel with the Rev. Larry Eslinger officiating.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lamb was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Chandler to Oliver G. and Rosetta (Mason) Hicks. She attended country schools in Lincoln County.
She married Elmo N. Lamb March 16, 1942 in Stillwater, Ok.
Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Christian Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Stillwater Medical Center Auxiliary, Stillwater chapter 54 of Order of Eastern Star and co-founder and member of the Cimarron Valley Quilters Guild.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Noah and Leo Hicks and one sister Viola Huffman.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Beverly and Barbara; five sisters, Mary Lofton of Udall, Kan., Lydia Sipe of Shawnee, Amanda Sadler of Carney, Inis Sigle of Agra and Ida Hopkins of Stillwater; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Martha was very artistic and loved to paint and write. She was an excellent seamstress. In later life she made quilts and organized the Cimmaron Valley Quilt Guild. She loved to crochet and knit and refinish furniture.
Martha was the 7th of 9 living children of Oliver and Rosetta Hicks. The family moved from Douglas Co, Mo in 1922, Martha was the first of their children born in OK. Rosetta, her mother died in child birth in 1930 leaving Oliver with 9 children to raise on a share crop farm in Lincoln Co, OK. Martha was 7 years old when her mother died. Oliver was able to keep the family together through the depression and dust bowl days of the 30's. Martha had a deep love for her father, her sisters and her own family, She was a giving and caring mother, grandmother and wife.
Elmo and Martha Lamb observe their 50th anniversary on March 15, 1992. Martha died September 22, 1992, at age 69. Elmo died October 26, 1997 at age 85. They are both buried at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Payne Co., OK.
