Died as the result of the crash of an Air Force KC135 when it slammed into Mt. Kit Carson. All 44 aboard died in the flight from Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.. and was just minutes away from its destination at Fairchild AFB near Spokane.

Funeral services for 1st Lieutenant David E. Alexander, Forest Grove resident who was killed Sept. 10, 1962 in a U.S. Air Force tragedy near Spokane, Washington were conducted Tuesday at First Congregational church.

The Rev. J. Vincent Crane officiated at the services with arrangements entrusted to Fuiten’s Mortuary Chapel, Forest Grove.

Mrs. Margaret Shotwell was organist with Peggy Skarston soloist. Concluding rites were at Forest View Cemetery with Bill and LeRoy Hedin, Gary, Roger and Dean Ritchey, Randy Smith, Tom LaSalle and Mark Hanna casket bearers.

Full military honors at the services were conducted by personnel from the Portland Air Force Base.

Lieutenant Alexander, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Edward Alexander of Forest Grove, was born at Forest Grove, Dec. 22, 1940, and had spent his entire life here until joining the U.S. Air Force in 1960.
