Services for Edna Laney, 87, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m., Friday May 12, 2006 in the Franklin-Bartley Chapel. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Mrs. Laney died Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
She was born Oct. 23, 1918 in Centerpoint, Ark. to Alger Roy and Ida Pauline Farley. She married Raymond E. Laney on July 1, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona. They moved to Lubbock in 1951. Raymond died Jan. 1, 1964. Edna then went to work at the Monterey High School cafeteria as a cook for the next 21 years until her retirement. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 575.
Survivors include a daughter, Rayetta Hibdon of Lubbock; a son, Derrell Laney and wife Diane of West Monroe, La.; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a brother, Alger Farley and wife Jo of Lubbock.
A grandson, Raymond L. Laney and a sister, Edith Farley preceded her in death.
