LCpl. U.S. Marines, {MC2223949}, Vietnam War-LCpl. Banister was killed in action during Operation Oklahoma Hills on 4-16-1969 while serving as a Weapons System Tech {6320} with the H&MS-17, MWSG-17, 1st Marine Air Wing. LCpl. Banister started his tour of Vietnam on 6-23-1968.


He is the son of Mr. Victor A. & Mrs. Victoria L. Banister of 1512 North Linn Avenue, Peoria, Illinois, and is a 1966 graduate of Spalding Institute in Peoria. He was a classmate & friend of Skip Morris and Bob Caruso.

LCpl. Banister enlisted with the Marines in Chicago, Illinois on 12-19-1966.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
