Willi Graf
Birth: Jan. 2, 1918
Cologne
Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany
Death: Oct. 12, 1943
Munich (München)
Bavaria (Bayern), Germany

World War II Resistance Figure. Graf was a member of the "White Rose" Nazi resistance group. From 1940 to 1942 he participated in various war deployments as a medical orderly. He met Hans and Sophie Scholl in Munich in 1942 and became an active member of their resistance group. In February 1943 Graf and his sister Anneliese were arrested by the Nazis, and sentenced to death for high treason. He was executed the following October at Stadelheim Prison after months of interrogation by the Gestapo. Seven schools in Germany have been named after him, and in 2003 he was posthumously awarded the status of honorary citizen of Saarbrucken, the town where he spent most of his childhood. (bio by: Jennifer M.)
