Dwight was born in Nashville and lived there
all of his life.He was the youngest son of six
children in the Adams family.Dwight attended
Watauga School until he left school and joined
the Marines,at the age of 18 months 17 days.
He enlisted in the Marines 9 November 1967,at
the Nashville Recruiting Office and took his
boot camp training at the Parris Island MCRD.
Dwight arrived in Vietnam 29 April 1968 and
was assigned to Hotel Company,2nd Battalion,
26th Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.
Hotel company was participating in Operation
Lancaster II,in the vicinity of LZ Margo in the
Cam Lo River Valley,west of Cam Lo when the
company was engaged by NVA enemy forces
using artillery and mortar fire.Dwight died as
a result of fragmentation wounds to the head
Dwight was single and served his country for
10 months and 7 days.He had been in Vietnam
for 4 months and 18 days.KIA#33,000.
Dwight was 18 years,10 months and 24 days
Survived by his parents;John Cecil Adams &
Marion Frances Stewart Adams and his five
siblings of 863 Summerly Drive,Nashville,TN.
PFC Adams was buried 27 September 1968
with military honors.
