Noah came to Wabash County, Ind., in 1844, and purchased eighty acres of land, from which he has developed an excellent farm. He was married in December, 1839, to Miss Nancy Wood, a native of Ohio, and daughter of Peter and Hannah ( Bradford) Wood, natives of Virginia.
By this marriage they are the parents of eleven children, six of whom are now living— Mary E., Hannah E., Margaret L., Melissa, Francis M. and Perry W. George W. enlisted in the Forty- seventh Indiana Regiment, and died at Benton, Mo.; Mary E. married William Frederick; Hannah E. married Michael Gieke, who was a member of the One Hundred and Thirtieth Regiment during the late war: Margaret L. married Elias Payne; Melissa married Wesley Haldeman; Francis M., married Elizabeth Moyer; all reside in Indiana.
Mr. Eckman and family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. In politics, he is a Republican.
