Fred Alfred Aloysius Belisle was born October 1, 1883 (or 1884) the son of Evelyn and James O. Belisle in Minneapolis.
As a young man he panned for gold in Alaska, found it, and was almost killed for it. At age 18 or so, he made his way to Catalina Island, California and built and operated a glass-bottom boat.
Fred met Caroline Lee and they were married November 19, 1907, in Los Angeles.
Fred and Caroline had five children. Muriel (1909), Winnifred (1910), and Lee (1912) were born in California; Annabelle (1917) and Vivian (1923) were born in Alberta, Canada.
In 1926 the family moved to Detroit; Caroline died April 17, 1928, age 43, in Detroit. Fred remarried in 1929 to Harriett Yokum.
Fred died on March 26, 1962, at age 78 in Tampa, Florida. He was buried in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Harrisville, Michigan.
