Civil War Union Soldier.
Born 1835 Nottingham, England, son of John Haskard and Prudence, his French wife.
He was enrolled in the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on May 16, 1861, and was mustered in as a Private in Company A on May 21, 1861. He served in or was present for all the regiment's campaigns over the next three years, which included First Bull Run, Gaines Mill, Malvern Hill, Second Bull Run, South Mountain, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Mine Run, The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor. When his enlistment expired on June 23, 1864, he was honorably mustered out.
