DEATH OF EDWARD BURT

Like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, came the announcement to relatives and friends in Hamden on Wednesday afternoon that Edward Burt, so well and favorably known in Vinton and Jackson counties, had passed from life unto death at his home in Harrison township, this county at 12:20 on the above afternoon, after a brief illness of summer grip, in connection with Bright's disease, from which he was a sufferer.

The deceased was a man of generous traits, honest and conscientious in all his views, a friend to everyone and whose own friends were as legion. He leaves a family of grown up children, his wife having preceded him in death.

Mrs. Chassie Monahan, of Hamden, is a sister, with whom the aged mother, Mrs. Annis Burt, makes her home.

Deceased was about 68 years of age and was a soldier in the Civil War, having distinguished himself as a member of Company G, Seventh Ohio Cavalry, participating in many battles. He will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral cortege will leave the family residence in Harrison township at 6 o'clock this (Friday) morning, arriving at Hamden at about 9 a.m., where it will be joined by Hamden Odd Fellows and a delegation from Wellston Lodge, no 701 I.O.O.F., of which latter lodge the deceased was a
member in good standing.

Interment will be in Hamden cemetery, alongside the remains of his wife, who departed this life about eight years since.
