Anchorage resident Robert Leo DeLand, 44, a truck driver, was found dead Oct. 8 at home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church in Anchorage with the Rev. Tom Liesener officiating.

Mr. DeLand was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Port Angeles, Wash. He moved with his family to Alaska in 1952. He attended Anchorage schools and graduated from Wasilla High School in 1964.

He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam until 1968. He had worked for K & L Distributors as a truck driver for several years, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 959. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. DeLand is survived by his daughters, Marci of Anchorage, and Paula and Aimee, both of New Orleans; his son, Steven of Wasilla; his mother, Helen of Lebanon, Ore.; his sisters, LeEllen Baker of Anchorage, and Janet Ashford of Harrodsburg, Ky.; and his brother, Ronald Zuber of Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent in Mr. DeLand's name to the Providence Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 196604, Anchorage 99519-6604.

Arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapel, Eighth Avenue and E Street.
