|Birth: ||Dec. 9, 1858|
|Death: ||May 17, 1934|
John Gilmore Cavaness was the son of Edward Clark Cavaness and second wife Mary Ann (Johnson) Cavaness. He was a cook by trade.
John Cavaness was born in Licking, Missouri, December 9, 1858 and passed away at the home of his nephew, Frank Cavaness, in Licking, May 17, 1934, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 8 days. His death was very sudden and with little suffering. Mr. Cavaness was well and favorably known in and around Licking. He was a man of upright character. He possessed no bad habits and his life was a splendid moral example. Last spring, while in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Capps, Mr. Cavaness found the Lord as his personal savior, and at that time made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ. How fortunate that at the age of 75, this fine man gave his life to the Lord. As a result of this we feel confident that his soul today is in Heaven. He leaves to mourn his going, one brother and one sister, several nephews and nieces and many friends. His cheerful disposition and cleanliness of life will long be remembered by his relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his nephew, Frank Cavaness, and burial was made in the Van Cleve Cemetery May 18.
