Son of Joseph and Mary (Watkins) Denson. He was born about 1785, probably in South Carolina, as was reported by one of his sons on the 1880 Census report. He and his parents and siblings eventually settled in or around Putnam County GA. He married Catherine Phillips on 5 March 1809 in Putnam County GA. There were nine children born to this union: Thomas (born in 1812), Malinda, James M. (born in 1816), Levi Phillips (born in 1819), Delilah Ann (born 20 January 1820), Permelia Ann (born about 1822), Almeda J. (born in 1823), William Cicero (born 20 November 1826), and A. Hillyer Denson (born 1828). He died sometime after 1840. It is presumed that he died in Walton County GA as that is where he resided when his last child was born. The exact location of his burial is unknown.
