Toxie Hatton, 82, of Modesto died Friday at her home.
Mr. Hatton was a native of Sumrall, Miss., and lived in Modesto 55 years. He worked for Acme, Mercier & Sorensen general contractors. He was an Army veteran who served from 1941-45 and was awarded the Bronze Star, and was a member of American Legion Post 74 and 48. He was a member of the Modesto Elks, E Clampus Vitus of Stanislaus and the Old Fishermen's Club, and was the grand marshal of the Modesto July 4, 2001, parade. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Jon Hatton of Norwalk; mother, Angie M. Hatton of Modesto; brothers, Ed Hatton, Louie Hatton and Don Hatton, all of Modesto; sisters, Geneva Olson, Lillian Hatton, Evelyn Houston, Carrie Adams and Barbra Hampton, all of Modesto; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. Hatton.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson, with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
