ROYLE HANSFORD, 50, A FORMER RESIDENT,
ILL 3 YEARS, DIES
Royle Howard Hansford, 50, well-known former Carthage resident, died at 2:30 yesterday afternoon in Freeman hospital, Joplin. He had been in ill health the last three years and was bed-fast virtually all of that time. Three weeks ago z he was moved to the hospital.
Mr. Hansford, a son of the late Ed Hansford, a former Jasper county sheriff, and Mrs. Nora Hansford, was born March 13, 1909, in Carthage. The Hansford family lived here for many years and the son, Royle, grew up here and was married in Carthage to Miss Martha Muriel Hall.
Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hansford lived in Chicago, returning in 1936 to Carthage. He was with the Pioneer Oil Company and the Goodyear Tire Company while in Carthage. From here they went to Clinton and later to Joplin, where he continued in the tire business until his health failed.
Mr. Hansford was a member of St. Phillip's Episcopal Church, Joplin.
Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Hansford, of the home, 2510 North Florida in Joplin; a daughter, Mrs. Richard Fanning of Ennis, TX.; a son, Lt. R. W. Hansford; a sister, Mrs. Ned [Lorene] Rudolph of Edwards, MO.; a brother, Harold Hansford of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two grandchildren, Susan and Sara Fanning, Ennis.
Mrs. Charlotte Blakey, 431 South McGregor is a sister of Mrs. Hansford.
