FORT WORTH - Marionell Harkrider Conner, 92, a longtime resident of Fort Worth, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005.
Mass of Christian Burial: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 5801 Mount Carmel Drive, Arlington, Texas 76017.
Mrs. Conner was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Houston to the late Amelia Virginia Alberti and Flavius Asbury Harkrider. She was educated at Our Lady of Victory and Central High School (now Paschal) and attended TCU.
Through the years, Mrs. Conner was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a founding member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. In support of her husband's law practice, Mrs. Conner was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the Fort Worth Bar Association. She loved golf and was a longtime member of the Colonial Country Club Women's Golf Association. As 47-year members of Colonial CC, she and her husband were active volunteers in the annual Colonial National Invitational Golf Tournament.
Besides golf, she liked estate sales, antiques, homemaking and cards. Loving to dance, she was a longtime member of the Canwick Club. In all her activities, Mrs. Conner held to high standards, but brought fun to whatever she did throughout life, sharing an easy smile and warm heart with those she met along the way. Those who knew her will miss that.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Allen Brittain Conner, a prominent Fort Worth attorney; her sister, Evelyn Leonard; and her brothers, Flavius, Clovis and Elmo Harkrider.
Survivors: Her sons, Brit Conner and his wife, Carol, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Dennis Conner and his wife, Betty Jo, of Richardson; grandchildren, Steve, Karen, Brian, Brittain, Sean and Dawn; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Conner of Tyler and Frances Harkrider of Fort Worth; and nieces and nephews.
