A native and life resident of Fort Worth, Rose Karasic was born December 17, 1917, the daughter of Hyman and Celia Hirschhorn Karasic. She married Elvin Bernstein, her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, on December 20, 1941.
Rose was a graduate of Central High School, now R. L. Paschal, and was a member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Hadassah, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Council of Jewish Women. She was an honorary member of the Board of the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Rose Bernstein devoted her life to her family and friends. Her grandchildren, who with her husband and children were the center of her life, lovingly called her Bubbie or "Bubs" for short. She was a beautiful redhead and was also known for her impeccable style and elegant taste.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sarah Schwartz, and brother, Al Karasic.
Survivors: Husband, Elvin, Fort Worth; daughter, Cheryl Bernstein Kress and her husband, Richard, Baltimore, Md.; son, Howard Bernstein and his wife, Rhoda, Fort Worth; grandchildren, Kerry Kress Levy and her husband, Spencer, Stacy Kress, Matthew Bernstein and Emily Bernstein; sisters, Helen Richards, Josephine Tills and Sadye Ray; brother, Jack Karasic; brother in law, Marshall Bernie; and several nieces and nephews.
