FORT WORTH - Gussie Lee Combest, 91, a retired medical assistant, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Officiating: the Rev. Fred Barber and the Rev. Canon James P. DeWolfe Jr. Visitation: Members of the family will receive friends in the Parish Hall afterward.
Memorials: Trinity Episcopal Church or a charity of choice.
Gussie Lee Combest was born on July 3, 1908, in Merkel, Texas, the daughter of Felix and Virginia Jones. She had resided in Fort Worth for the past 82 years. A retired medical assistant, she was also an artist whose paintings have been exhibited in many local shows. She was a graduate of Central High School (now R.L. Paschal) and attended TCU.
She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for 67 years and was active in the St. Cecilia's Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Combest; and grandsons, Philip and James Cardona.
Survivors: Daughters, Beverly Cardona and her husband, M.A., and Barbara Johnson and her husband, Weldon; sons, Stewart W. Hellman Jr. and his wife, Carol, and the Rev. Gary Lee Hellman; grandchildren, the Rev. David W. Cardona, John A. Cardona, Mary Jane Lopez, Sherry Kroeger, Lynda Tait, Rick Johnson, Krissi Vance, Kathi Stanton, Karen Doolittle, Stewart W. Hellman III, Sam Hellman, Tom Schleuter, Jeff Schleuter and Dianna McCoy; 26 great-grandchildren; and nephew, John Paul Hoppe and hiswife, Dottie.
