Known as "The Father of Opp," Alex Hart bought the land on which Opp was built, had the land surveyed, helped lay off streets and sold lots. He gave the land for Opp's first park and built Opp's first hotel as well as several other early business establishments. Alex Hart was Opp's third mayor, serving from 1905-1907.
