Thomas D. Bellinger, 82, of 18 Sunrise Blvd. East (Camelot Village) Rome, N.Y., went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at the Siegenthaler Center of Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. on Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y.
He was the owner of Planned Results, Inc. in Vernon, N.Y. It has been continued by his partner and longtime friend Kevin C. Riley now in Syracuse, N.Y.
He was born in Weedsport, N.Y., the son of David and Marion (Nugent) Bellinger. He graduated from Weedsport Central School in 1948.
In 1951, he married the late Lorraine Baier of Auburn, N.Y. Three children were born of this union: Mary Catherine Dean, William and Mark Bellinger.
In 1964, he married the late Bettye Best who had three children; Theodore, Angela and John Shaw. Two children were born of this union; B. Anne Houseman and Lisa Eaton.
In 2002, he married Dorothy Abbe who had four children; Charles, Pamela Fleming, Kristine Ramsdale and Robert Abbe.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a great friend and a godly man. He had 12 grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He also had step-grandchildren. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and would only miss one if there was no possible way he could attend.
One of his greatest pleasures was keeping in touch with his many friends and family members around the world with daily phone calls.
He was responsible for starting Dollars for Scholars in upstate New York with the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School being the first.
He was involved with foreign students through Dr. T. Koshy, Evangelical Chaplin at Syracuse University. He befriended many of the students and became a father figure to them. Some have returned to their native countries but are still in contact. He served on Dr. Koshy's board of directors, International Fellowship Evangelism. He was also on the board of education at New Life Christian School in Randallsville, New York.
His constant love and inspiration will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
The celebration of the life will be Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Resurrection Life Fellowship, 3191 Cole Road, Eaton, NY at 11 a.m. There will be a buffet luncheon immediately following at the White Eagle Lodge. The family invites everyone to attend. Contributions in Tom's memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, or Ride for Life. Envelopes will be available at the church.
