VERNON CENTER - Paul R. Branigan, 78, of 4882 Marble Road, died on Thursday morning, Feb. 2, 2012, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1933, in Oneida, the son of John and Louise Reama Branigan.
On July 5, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Pauline Boisvert in Lowell, Mass.
Mr. Branigan was a graduate of Oneida High School and had been employed as a machinist for the Rome Sentinel.
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Army Infantry and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kelly Branigan of Cooperstown; one daughter, Denise and Eric Bataille of Austin, Texas; one sister, Jean of Oneida; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
At Mr. Branigan's request a memorial service will be held privately for the convenience of the family. Interment will be private. There will be no hours of public visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida.
