CALAIS, Maine – Paul F. Cavanaugh, 72, passed away on Feb. 25, 2011 after a second brief battle with cancer. Paul was born in Oneida, N.Y. on March 10, 1938, the son of Herbert and Helen Cavanaugh. He graduated from Oneida High School class of 1956. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Walter and his daughter-in-law, Diane. He is survived by: his oldest son, Paul; grandchildren Sean, Ryan, Meaghan and Kaitlan; his youngest son, Bill; his wife Christa; grandchildren Seth and Catherine; the mother of his sons, Sally; and a special friend, Carol O'Reilly. Paul was one of the first paramedics in the State and lived all over Maine. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing, and with friends visited ever state east of the Mississippi River. He moved to Calais Methodist Homes in 2010 to be near some of his grandchildren where he made some very special friends. He was briefly admitted to Calais Regional Hospital before he moved to Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center on Feb. 16, 2011. He received excellent treatment and attention while there and his family is very thankful to all that helped as things got worse.
