After his father's death (Thomas Beale) in August of 1831 (seven months after Robert's birth), his mother, Lucy Terrill Beale, joined her mother and brothers in journeying to Randolph County, Missouri. In 1856, Robert married Nancy McKinsey. Soon after their marriage, Robert, Nancy, and his mother Lucy came to Denton County. Lucy died soon after their arrival.
No one has found where Lucy is buried. If you have any information about this location, maybe near Krum, where they first lived before coming to Little Elm.
Robert and Nancy had three children: Lucy Ella Beale (known as Ella most of her life), William Jefferson Beale, and James R. Beale. All three of these children are buried here in Little Elm Cemetery. Ella is buried in the same plot with Robert and Nancy, along with Lucy's first husband, George Andrew Smith, and one of her daughters, Lillian Edna Smith. Their two sons and their families are buried to the south of the enclosed curbed plot containing the other mentioned above.
