Samuel N. Dunlap, aged 81, veteran of the Civil War, died of heart trouble yesterday at noon at the home of his son, Fred Dunlap, in Derita. The death came suddenly, Mr. Dunlap having been ill only several hours before he expired.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon and interment in the Zoar Methodist Church yard in lower Steel Creek.
Two sons, Thomas C. Dunlap of Rock Hill, SC and Fred T. Dunlap of Derita, and one daughter, a Mrs. Smith of York, SC survive. Several grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
Mr. Dunlap was actively engaged in farming until years ago, since which time his health has been poor. He fought throughout the Civil War with the Confederate forces, returning later to his home in the vicinity of Fort Mill, SC.
