He was born in Parish of Kirk German on the Isle of Man.

He is the eldest child of eleven children of Charles Caesar Cowley (1800-1875) and Ann (Killip) Cowley (1815-1857) and married Eleanor Caroline Curtis (1844-1931) on Feb 25, 1864 in Logan, Utah. He and Eleanor had 13 children

Charles C. Cowley, an honored and respected citizen of Venice died at his home Dec. 3rd, after an illness extending over a period of several months.

Funeral services were held Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. from the Venice ward meeting house. The speakers were Elders G.F. Jackson, A.W. Buchanan, Jr., G. Brugger and Bishop H.H. Bell of the Glenwood ward. All of the speakers referred to the noble character of the deceased and offered words of comfort to the bereaved.

Mr. Cowley was born Nov. 17, 1824, in the Isle of Mann, England, where he joined the Church in his youth. Came to Utah in 1850 and settled in the Seventeenth ward of Salt Lake City, where he remained until 1859, when he removed to Logan. After residing here for a short time he was called to settle the Dixie country.

About twenty years ago he came to Sevier County and settled in Venice, were he resided until his death. Brother Cowley was always a faithful and energetic Latter-Day Saint. He is survived by his wife, seven children and thirteen grandchildren. Six of his children have preceded him to the other side.
