Birth: 1832
Alabama, USA
Death: 1908
Lawrence County
Alabama, USA

Martha Stover Blizzard's family was devastated by the Civil War. While her father's loyalty lay with the Union, her husband served in the Confederate army. Obediah Stover was a private in the 1st Alabama Cavalry (USA), while Thomas Franklin (Frank) Blizzard was in Roddy's 4th Alabama Cavalry (CSA). Also serving in the 1st Alabama Cavalry (USA) was Martha's younger brother, Abraham, and her sister Caroline Delphina's husband, William Pell. All three of these men died during or immediately after the war. Obediah and Abraham succumbed to disease, while William was killed during a skirmish with Confederate forces that were a part of General Nathan Bedford Forrest's cavalry. Frank evidently survived the war, but died soon afterward from causes unknown, but possibly related to the war. Frank's resting place is unknown, but could very well be in The Arbor alongside his wife. Obediah is buried in the Nashville National Cemetery, William Pell in the Corinth National Cemetery, and Abraham probably in a grave marked "Unknown" in the Corinth National Cemetery.
