Franciszka was my husband's Great-Grandmother.
Daughter of Leonard KLUCZYKOWSKI and Magdalene REGINSKI Kluczykowski. Francesca came to America from Poland with her extended family on the ship Orpheus at age 7 on July 29, 1862. The ship arrived in New York, NY.
Married Joseph" KONOPACKI on 17 Jan 1876 at Sacred Heart Church, Polonia, WI.
Together they had nine children:
Anna L. Konopacki Andreski Bassing
Edmund F. Konopacke
Francesca is buried in the KONOPACKE family plot with her husband Joseph but only Joseph has a headstone. The last name is spelled "Konopacke" on the headstone, but records have typically shown the spelling as "Konopacki", including Josef's father's baptismal record. This spelling could be due to the fact that their youngest son, Edmund, spelled his last name "Konopacke", while his other siblings spelled it "Konopacki" or "Konopacky". Two of their sons, John and Felix are also buried in the plot.
Francesca Kluczykowski Konopacki died in her sleep at the home of her son Edmund Konopacke, where she had been living at the time of her death.
Mrs. Frances Konopacky, 79, a pioneer Portage county resident, died unexpectedly in her sleep early Monday morning at the home of her son, Edward Konopacky, at Iron Mountain, Michigan, where she had been making her home.
Mrs. Konopacky was born on November 14, 1857, in Poland. She came to this country at the age of 16 with her parents, locating in the town of Sharon. Her maiden name was Frances Kluck. She was married to Joseph Konopacky 63 years ago at Polonia. The couple lived at Milwaukee for a short time and then moved to Ashland where they made their home. Mr. Konopacky died there on march 21, 1916. Mrs. Konopacky continued to live at Ashland until 10 years ago when she went to live with her son. They were the parents of 12 children, seven of whom survive.
Surviving are three sons, Edward of Iron Mountain and Peter and Joseph of Stevens Point, and four daughters, Mrs. Hedwig Justice of Mellen, Mrs. Mary Swantik of Detroit, MI, Mrs. C. O. Brown of Mobridge, SD, and Mrs. Stanley Adnroski of Saganaw, MI.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Konopacky and sons, Jerome and Robert, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Konopacky of Stevens Point attended the funeral.
