Peter was my husband's Grandfather.

He was the sixth of nine children born to Jozef "Joseph" Konopacki and Franciszka "Frances" (Kluck) Konopacki.

He was married to Margaret Maria Karner on 29th, 1917 in Ashland, Ashland Co., WI.

Their children together were:

Jerome Peter, Audrey Marie, Robert Paul, Karl A., Peter Paul, David Francis, James Joseph and John Edward Konopacky.

Peter worked as a conductor for the Soo Line Railroad. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Church, BPOE (Benevolent Protective Order of Elks), and the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen.

Peter Francis Konopacky, 69, 332 S. Fremont St., died at 6:45 this morning at St. Michael's Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last month.

Mr. Konopacky, a retired Soo Line conductor, had previously been in good health.

Born in Ashland on March 27, 1890, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Konopacky. He began his railroad career as a young man, starting as a brakeman and becoming a conductor in 1910.

He moved to Stevens Point in 1911 and was married to the former Margaret Karner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here on Oct. 29, 1917.

Mr. Konopacky retired from the railroad in May 1957.

Surviving are his wife; seven sons, Jerome, Robert, Karl, Peter, David, James, and John; a daughter, Mrs. E.R. (Audrey) Skibba; 22 grandchildren; two sisters, and a brother.

Eleven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Konopacky was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Church and the Order of Railway Conductors and Brakemen.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Church Thursday morning at 9 o'clock, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Moore and Hoppa Funeral Home after 7 o'clock this evening.
