Robert was born in Edgecomb North Carolina. His ancestry is hard to trace due to the different spellings of the Etheridge name. At some point the name is changed to Ethridge. Robert's parents were Caleb Etherridge and Agnes Clark. They were originally from Norfolk Va. Robert's father also served in the Rev. War.
In 1776 Robert married Cornelia Calley. They lived in North Carolina near Robert's parents. Robert served in Captain Brinkleys company in North Carolina. He served in the company with both of his brothers. Robert was granted land in Wilkinson Co Georgia due to his service during the war. He sold his land in North Carolina and moved the family to Georgia. Robert had a brother who also moved with him to Georgia.
Robert died in Wilkinson Co. or possibly in another location, see the note from Jack below. His wife continued to live in this area until her death many years later.
Cornelia Calley Etheridge (1757 - 1826)*
Damarius Marie Etheridge Hardie (1780 - 1858)*
Robert Isaac Etheridge (1788 - 1873)*
Just a comment on Robert Etheridge posting in "findagrave". Robert is
documenting as dying in 1797 at this time, present day Wilkinson County was
still indian territory. The county was opened up to white settlement with the
land lottery of 1805.
Robert and Calley are documented as living along Buffalo Creek in Washington
County next door. I wonder if this marker is just put there to memorialize
Robert next to Calley while his grave would actually be elsewhere?
