The Journal Gazette
An Avilla woman died Tuesday afternoon when her car was struck by a pickup truck pulling a travel trailer on Indiana 3 in Noble County, according to a written statement from the Indiana State Police.
According to an investigation by Senior Trooper Steve Malone, the 2006 Dodge Ram driven by Clifford E. Dixon, 70, of Whitehall, Mich., allegedly failed to stop for a red light at Indiana 8 about 1 p.m. and struck a 2001 Buick Park Avenue driven by Teresa A. Eicher, 60, of Avilla.
Police said the truck hit the car broadside on the driver's door and that Eicher died at the scene.
Dixon was not injured but his wife, Betty A. Dixon, 66, was transported to a local hospital.
All three involved were wearing their seat belts, state police said.
