Thomas Earl Bates, 29, passed on March 1, 2013, at his home in Acequia, Idaho. Thomas was born May 21, 1983, in the Dalles, Oregon. The Son of Bruce and Debra Bates, of Condon, Oregon. He spent his early years in Condon and the family moved to Burley, Idaho when he was 10 years old. Thomas attended Calvary Christian School, and American Heritage Academy. Thomas received his High School Diploma from the C.S.I. in Twin Falls, ID.
Thomas was the right hand of his Dad's business, Bates Air Service, Inc. for the last 15 years. He coordinated ground operations, during the growing season. We've never seen a faster aerial ground crew quicker than the one Tom supervised with his dad. Some people compare it to a Nascar pit-crew for an Airplane. Thomas and his twin brother Adam's quickest load time for dry application recorded involving landing, loading and taking off again was 17 seconds.
Thomas worked for Transystems in Paul, Idaho for the last 7 years, as the night operations yard coordinator and factory loader, he was highly beloved and respected by his peers for doing an exceptional job. The whole operations looked forward to Thomas's shift because of his leadership skill. He was always an encouragement, and created a worry free environment by his unmatched professional calmness. As you all know, no one said it quite like Tom, "You're good to go. Have a safe trip."
Thomas loved spending time with his many friends and family, especially his hairy four-legged children Zeza and Coco. He was always ready to help others in every situation or need. The outdoors was where he enjoyed spending his time. He loved fishing trips to Gold Beach. Tom loved the times spent in 'Church' with a fish on his line, making memories with his dad and brother. Those were the trips fishing stories are made of. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, riding 4-wheelers, and taking many adventures. He especially enjoyed road trips on his Ducati. He often recounted his eventful afternoon ride with Brett Hudson, in which Tom watched Brett use the pavement as a human cheese grater.
Thomas's greatest joy in life was his relationship with Yehovah. He walked with Yeshua. Those closest to him know just how deep his faith was. Tom meditated on the Word from his youth His bibles were falling apart and duct taped together. Toms' faith was behind his character. Thomas encouraged many of us with these Words, "YHWH is the strength of my life!" "Be bold and very courageous!" "Be strong ,be strong and be strengthened !" "Trust in Yehovah with all your heart, don't lean on your understanding!". A few of his favorite passages were : John 6:47, Romans 5:1-11, Numbers 6:24-27, Psalms 91, Psalms 100
Thomas was a dearly loved, Son, Grandson, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Friend, and coworker. Tom was the embodiment of confidence, professionalism, humor, honor and love. We do not ever expect to say goodbye to one so loved…so instead we say "see you in the morning, Tom"—when we all wake up! He is survived by his parents Bruce and Debra Bates of Heyburn, Idaho. His sister Carolyn (Travis) Emery, of Rupert, Idaho. And his twin brother, Adam Bates of Heyburn, Idaho. His extended family all lives in Oregon, including. His paternal Grandparents Edward and Lorraine Bates. His Uncles, Wayne Bates, Paul (Donna) Bates, Dale (Sheryl) Bates. His Aunt, Shirley (Al)Burrows. His maternal Grandmother, Melva Earl. Uncles Stan Earl, Dan Earl, David (Terri) Earl. Tom was an adored uncle and recreational jungle-Jim to his sister's 4 children: Kelsey, Aliyah, Johnathan, and Miryam; and to his brother's 2 sons: Asher and Jordan. Tom always enjoyed times with his 16 cousins and large extended family.
