Mrs. Adolph Mast, Sr. Is Buried Last Friday
Was County Resident For the Past 37 Years
Funeral services for Mrs. Adolph Mast, Sr., who passed away at her home in Miller, February 17, 1948, were held Friday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller, South Dakota, with pastor Ernst H. Haacke conducting the services. Although confirmed to her home for some time, Mrs. Mast was able to be up and do her own work until February 7 at which time she suffered a stroke and left her confined to her bed in a weakened condition until the end came, late Tuesday.
Anna Kaiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich Kaiser, was born January 19, 1867 in Biel, Switzerland. On October 9, 1891 she was united in marriage with Adolph Mast, who survives.
In May, 1902, the family came to America, living at Iowa City, Iowa for four years and moving to Midland, South Dakota in 1906. In 1911 they came to Hand County, living here continuously, holding membership in the Lutheran Church In Tulare. In 1943 they moved to Miller where they were living when Mrs. Mast passed away.
Four children were born to this union, Bertha Mast Siegling of Miller; Margaret Mast Dixson of Greenwich, New York; Adolph Mast, Jr. of Tulare and his twin, Emil who passed away last July. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Acting pallbearers were O. R. Rochow, Charles Olson, Henry Siegling, Art Yada, Otto Schultz and Alfred Roeber.
Mrs. Sief Hoogestraat sang two solos, accompanied by Miss Velda Gross
