Lala H. Bingham, 92, of Wessington died Friday, October 24, 1997, at Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Community Church in St. Lawrence, with the Revs. Lee J. Smith and Duwane Decker officiating. Burial will be in Wessington Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.

Pallbearers will be Tim Scholz, Randy, David and John Bingham, Max Hanson, and Jim Johnson.

Lala Hope Westenhaver was born October 3, 1905, near Winsor Illinois, to Jacob and Ethel (Duncan) Westenhaver. She moved with her parents to a farm near Wessington. After graduating from Miller High School and Madison Teachers College, she taught at a rural school for nine years.

She married John A. Bingham, son of George B. & Mary E. (Kenyon) Bingham, June 18, 1935, at Aberdeen. They farmed near Wessington from 1941 to 1989, when they moved into Wessington. In 1996, they became residents of Weskota Manor in Wessington Springs.

She is survived by her husband, John of Wessington Springs; a son, Gary of Black Hawk; a daughter, Helen (Lyle) Scholz of Waxahachie, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Larry in December 1978.
