William Earl "Bill" Boyer
Birth: Sep. 20, 1920
Lebanon County
Pennsylvania, USA
Death: Dec. 20, 1991
Dauphin County
Pennsylvania, USA

Daddy was born and raised in Cornwall, PA. He was the third of six children born to Georgie Grimes Boyer and William P. Boyer. As a young man, he worked with his father in the mountains, cutting trees down and hauling them out in an old family truck. This truck was one that his father allowed him to drive before he was even old enough to have a license.

He attended and graduated from Cornwall High School. After graduation he and mother (Dorothy Beil) got married. They had two sons and had moved to Harrisburg prior to him being drafted into the military.

He was in the army for a short period of time, but was given a medical discharge because he suffered from asthma. He should never have been in the military at all.

Daddy was a wonderful father. He was very patient and understanding. He believed in "time outs" for us kids, long before that became the accepted way to discipline your children. I don't think there was anything worse than having to sit in a chair and do nothing (no watching tv, no reading a book, no playing with any toy.....just sitting). My sisters and I hated it. He was also very witty and had a great sense of humor.

He worked hard as a heating and refrigeration mechanic. I don't think that there was anything that he couldn't fix. Whenever anything was broken, he was the one you went to to get it fixed.

Daddy was also a big fan of the Hershey Bears hockey team. He and mother held season tickets to their games and rarely missed one.

Daddy died at home at the age of 71, of a heart attack, leaving behind his wife of 52 years, Dorothy June (Beil) Boyer as well as their 7 children. Unfortunately, she and 2 of their sons, William Earl Boyer, Jr. and Steven Wayne Boyer would all follow him soon after.

He is sadly missed by his surviving children Michael, Cindy, Annette, Brenda and Janice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning,
that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
