Anchorage resident Henry "Buddy" Garland Brown, 79, died April 11, 2006, at Lighthouse Home Care assisted living home. Visitation was held with a funeral at Anchorage Funeral Home and Crematory. Chaplain Victor Gibson of Denali Home Health officiated. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and burial was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born April 30, 1926, in Norfolk, Va., to Henry and Nettie Brown. In 1962, he moved to Anchorage, where he worked in the construction industry and on the Alaska pipeline. His family said: "Henry was a loving and caring person. He would help with anything he could to help his friends. He loved to fish for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. He enjoyed the television series "Law and Order."
He is survived by his wife, Idela Brown of Anchorage; grandson, Robert Brown of Anchorage; twin sister, Nettie Kovac of Painesville, Ohio; sister, Ruth Farish of Pensacola, Fla.; good friend, Selma Bautista of Anchorage; friends, Dwayne Anaruk of Dillingham, Billy Anaruk of Anchorage, Sam and Lucille Anaruk of Bethel, Amber Anaruk-Burks of Anchorage, Eloy Bautista of Anchorage, Mike Anaruk of Bethel, Divan Bautista, and staff of Denali Home Health, Lisa, Mimi, Victor and Rick. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Davies and Audress Smith; brother, Harold Brown; daughter, Della Brown, and brothers-in-law, Joseph Kovac and Frank Farish.
