Nancy E. Barr was b 3 September 1864 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Jacob C. and Hixey A. Martin Barr.
She married Ezekiel Maynard in 1883. The marriage didn't last a year and they were divorced 11 April 1885. They had a son, Samuel Cornelius Maynard who always went by the name of Samuel Neeley Barr. He was b 10 April 1884.In the 1900 Census he is with his grandfather,Jacob C. Barr, however the name is difficult to decipher...looks like Nela or Nila which might have been a short version of Neeley. He is born, according to the census, in 1886, 16 year old male, grandson of Jacob Barr. He was raised by his grandfather.
The final property settlement in Ezekiel & Nanny Barr's divorce was 20 Aug 1888. I am told that Nancy married again to Bethel Alford Martin and had children. She was widowed and died 13 Feb 1920 in Nashville. She was buried in Baxter's Odd Fellows Cemetery, Putnam County, Tennessee. Her son is also buried there.
