POW 5/24/1861 Alexandria, VA.; released 6/7/1861; exchanged 9/11/1861.
On rolls 11/1/1862.
He was transferred into "I" Co. VA 11th Cavalry on 2/1863.
Hospitalized 9/29/1863 - 10/21/1863 with intermittent fever at Charlottesville, VA.
Fatally wounded 6/24/1864 at Nance's Shop, VA.; died of wounds on 6/27/1864 at Richmond, VA.
The 11th Cavalry Regiment was organized in February, 1863, by consolidating the 17th Battalion Virginia Cavalry, 1 company from the 24th Battalion Virginia Cavalry, and 2 companies of the 5th Regiment Virginia Cavalry.
