Hodges-Moore Funeral Home

Mr. Hilary Ennis Haywood Boyd Sr., age 105, died Tuesday after a long, eventful and interesting life, having lived in three centuries. He was a longtime resident of Bullch County and most recently had lived in Mount Vernon. Mr. Boyd was born June 13, 1900, in the Lakeview Community of Bulloch County, the third of six children of James K. and Willie Hester Boyd. After traveling and working for about 10 years, he settled briefly in Gadsen, Ala., before returning to Bulloch County to farm in the Lakeview and Clito communities. He was an enthusiastic and talented genealogist.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Tina Moseley Boyd; and all of his siblings.

Survivors include two sons, and daughters-in-law, Haywood and Carol Boyd of Mount Vernon and Sherwood and Linda Boyd of Statesboro; grandchildren, Ken and Susan Boyd, Kay B. Geiger, Mike and Cindy Boyd, Sheri B. and Joseph A. Grooms and Kim B. Waters; great-grandchildren, Katie B. Geiger, Ryan, Ashley and Lindsay Waters, Heather Grooms, Kaleb Boyd and Gordon Maloy; and many nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral service and burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Eastside Cemetery with the Rev. John Waters officiating.

The family will receive friends and Family from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ken Boyd, Mike Boyd, Joe Grooms, Charlton Moseley, Joe McGlamery and Bill Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Genealogy Department of the Statesboro Regional Library, 124 South Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458.
