In memory of Charles who fought in the Union Army during the War Between the States in the 1860s. Charles was the father-in-law to my Aunt Elva (Jones) Lovejoy and a successful merchant in the mining community of Ruby, Washington.

Thank you for your sacrifice & service to our great country. Charles & his wife, Sarah were passengers on the first steamship that came up the Columbia & Okanogan Rivers. He then purchased a general store in Ruby, Washington.
