Jan 1909 - Carroll Times - Friday morning the funeral of Joseph Daniel of this city was held at SS. Peter and Paul's church and the remains laid to rest in the church cemetery. The deceased was born in Germany in 1836 and came to America in 1860. Two years later he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Donnelly in Ontario, Canada. In 1873 they moved to Carroll county and located on a farm in Kniest township, where they resided until five yeara ago when they moved to this city and since then have been residents of the fourth ward.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel were the parents of eleven children, ten of whom are still living, they are: J.W. of Beaver Dam, Wis.; Chas., Mrs. Henry Riling and Mrs. Vern Swender of Carroll; Mrs. Wm Lux of Auburn; Henry, Mrs Nick Underberg of Kniest township; Mrs. Creighton Woodyard of Lake City; and Rosa and Joseph who live with their mother in this city.
Mr. Daniel has been in poor health for some time and being afflicted with a severe attack of pneumonia was unable to withstand its ravages. He died at his home in this city last Tuesday morning surrounded by his family.
